Change is a coming...

So it's a new year...and resolutions are expected. I hate them. Mostly because I just break them. This year feels different for some reason. The typical ones come to mind- lose some weight, take control of my finances, get organized. I have decided that changing everything at once is too difficult and I have proved that several times in the past. So, baby steps is the theme for 2011.

First baby step: Ditch the Soft Drinks. I know these are horrible for my body and it was typical that I would drink 5 or 6 in a day (maybe more?). So far this year I've only had 2 1/2! For me that's pretty good! Any suggestions for something to drink besides water? I love water, always have, but it can get boring very quickly. It seems everything I pick out is loaded with sugar.

Second baby step: Get Moving! I have tried going to the gym at lunch or after work and I've tried walking at home...all have fizzled. So, I bought the 30 day shred by Jillian Michaels. So far, two days down. The workout is good and only 20 minutes. I can do it while Tre takes his bath or after he goes to bed. Only one problem: push ups. I hate push ups and they are in the workout TWICE. Oh well...no pain no gain, right?

Third baby step: Get organized. Ugh. I am not good at routines or discipline. This one will be difficult. I need to start small- do one thing for a couple weeks and then add something to it. So what should it be? Make my bed before I leave the house? Fix my lunch before I go to bed at night? Make sure all the dishes are clean and put away before I go to bed? Some many choices and they all sound awful! Oh, I know! I will commit to doing a devotional EVERY SINGLE DAY! I try so hard to do this and get through about 3 days and then lose it. It doesn't sound awful like the other choices. My pastor recommended getting a new one year bible at the beginning of each year. I like that idea- I've never read the entire bible. So, Friday I will buy my one year bible and begin Baby Step #3! Yay!

Well, it's time to hit the sack. That leads to baby step number four, I guess- Get up on time so the mornings aren't so rushed and stressful. I have always been bad at mornings. Is it too late to teach an old dog new tricks? I guess we'll find out.

Good night!
